What ever happen to Killer Instinct the video game?
Will they make a new one?
If not why so?
It would be great to see Orchid, Fulgore, Cinder, Riptor, Kim Wu, Jago, Spinal, and Sabrewulf out today with the graphics that are out and I’m sure they make a killing with it.
The bounce, background, and colors like DOA and Soulcalibur.
Short Answer: No, probably not.
1. Killer Instinct was a Nintendo game and Microsoft owns the company that made Killer Instinct.
2. Depending upon who owns the rights, Microsoft could produce a Killer Instinct game for the Xbox 360, but I doubt they will unless the game becomes highly demanded.
3. Compared to other fighting games, Killer Instinct never sold as well as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken.
4. Killer Instinct hasn’t gone through any additional development since 1996.
Long Answer:

Killer Instinct was originally developed by Rare, manufactured by Midway, and licensed by Nintendo for SNES, Gameboy, and N 64. The first game was released in 1994 with a sequel in 1996, both of which were SNES games.
Killer Instinct Gold was the final Killer Instinct game that Rare developed, which was the only game of that line to use the N64. Rare had many other huge hits for the N64, such as Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Golden Eye, and Perfect Dark.
In September 2002, almost a year after the release of the GameCube and Xbox, Microsoft bought the majority share of stock in Rare. With Microsoft controling the company, Nintendo sold their shares and all GameCube games in development were cancelled.
Since no Killer Instinct games were produced for the GameCube or the Xbox, I doubt that any new K.I. games will be released for the Xbox 360 or the Wii.
The brand “Killer Instinct” is labeled as intellectual property. Whoever owns the brand Killer Instinct is the only person who can say that it is allowed to be further developed into any other video games (or anything else for that matter).
